Icymasamune's work has been an inspiration to me since the early days of the internet, when I would visit his website Poisonwind Ink (now gone) and read Shadowlark Symphony. I find his character designs and world-building super interesting, and his comedy writing is great as well (I still have several of the Icy-ko Dojo skits saved!). Here are some of the older characters I remember from back in the day.
Seeing as how I linked to the Booru, I should probably get around to finally posting this. This was my idea pitch for the main antagonist, Empress Plana. While some people seemed to like it, it didn’t really fit with what most of the other writers wanted to do with the character (and they had already made significant progress before I came along). Still, I liked this design (Gunwild and Gentleman Bones helped with it), and I’ve got a few more drawings of her I’d like to do, but to avoid confusion I figured I should clarify it’s not the “official” Plana of the project.
So Psu’s streams have been showing some post-apocolyptic movies and cartoons while they draw, and one that popped up on the docket that grabbed my attention was Thundarr the Barbarian. It’s a Ruby-Spears production with a lot of Jack Kirby inspirations, set in a ruined future where magic and science have intertwined. I highly recommend checking it out, I mean the main characters fight the statue of liberty in the first episode and it only seems to get more crazy as it goes.
